When I walked in the backyard tonight, it looked from my angle that we had built our house on a bay. I guess to get a sale price for "lake side property" we should list our house today! I mean if the ducks, who have recently taken up residence, like it...I am sure we can get a pontoon boat out there. After all, what says fun like a pontoon boat?
In all seriousness, or at least in as much as I can muster, it has been raining for over twenty four hours. Fortunately, our house is on the high ground...sorta. The bad news is that our house is almost eighty years old and needless to say, water proofing wasn't the "science" it is today. We have battened down the hatches through the years and any moisture is more of a slight annoyance and not a problem.
Hopefully this onslaught will end soon and I can get back to grilling...without an umbrella.

In a somewhat traditional Irish way, for a guy that is mostly German with a little bit of Welsh (I think), I decided upon Colcannon with a grilled pork chop covered in a honey balsamic vinaigrette. I love Colcannon, which is a traditional Irish potato dish made with kale or cabbage. Mine, taken from a Williams-Sonoma book, was embellished with leek, shallots, kale and cabbage. I absolutely love it...if you haven't had it before, try it.

Well after the snow of last Saturday, our "new" dryer was delivered and the laundry room is finally complete...sorta. I still need to add a countertop over both units. That however can wait.
We went with red because it was a scratch and dent model and we had no choice. There is a big dent in the back right which means the dryer cannot be stacked or placed on a pedestal. No problem since we don't plan on doing either. When it comes to scratch and dent, it really is a great deal. Especially for the laundry room. Why not buy something that is half off, with a good warranty, for a room that you don't typically party in. As long as it is functional..and red. I think I will call it Rudolph and the only reindeer game it better do well is called "Dry our Laundry".

Wow...I am pretty excited. I was just paid for a picture I took. I have known about it for sometime, but the check just came in the mail. It will be used in a direct mailer for a grocery store somewhere further west. Although it is not a huge amount of money, it is still something. I have had several pictures used on blogs and online news sites thanks to creative commons, but I have never been paid. Pretty cool. Now if only I could make a living out of this...

and my other self, and yet a third one...but he sucks (Isn't it obvious?)
This is my first feeble attempt at multiplicity. I have used GIMP for awhile, but I have a lot more to learn. Nonetheless, it was a fun little project and I have a lot of other ideas I hope to make happen. Only time will tell. Fortunately, with three heads things go a little bit faster.
Now let's get back to rocking!

Wow...almost 7 and there is still sunlight. Thank goodness Spring is around the corner. I'm tired of grilling in the dark...and cold.
Of course more white death is forecast for Friday, so warm weather is still a ways off. Wait a minute, they forecasted white death! Based on my calculations that mean it will be 60 degrees and sunny...nice.

After a few weeks of COD, Anne decided she needed to take it up a notch and ordered Rockband. Now as I alluded to several months ago, we about kicked Anne out of our "band" for poor vocals. Our virtual fans just didn't seem to like her. Fortunately, she brushed up before Christmas and made us proud...well mostly. Now she has no excuse. In her shoebox size apartment, her neighbors can look forward to hearing her thrash around at all hours as she customizes her vocal stylings and learns Neil Peart's drum fills. Best part of all, we don't have to wait for summer to rock together, we can do it online. Although the online playing doesn't allow me to hear her every single thought out note, she does get to hear all of my missed guitar parts.
BTW, thanks for sending the pics Anne! I chastised her for not photographing the "unboxing"...which is becoming a ritual in our house. Her response is best left in her own words:
as i don't live my life in a world prepared to blog, i decided to document the resealing of the box and the repacking of the box (which also works as the unpacking), followed by reopening, readmiring, and then some sad and nerdy rocking out alone. do with it what you will!I will Anne, don't worry about that and yes, you do look rather sad in your staged drum pose. It is almost like someone burst into the room and caught you drumming when you shouldn't have been.
One more thing...I just learned last night that Tim's PS3 arrived and he has spent the last week quietly practicing COD before announcing his online presence. Nice Tim. Bring it on, bring it on...just watch for the girl. She welds a wicked knife stick.
