Bleeeep

We watched Die Hard 2 last night. I forgot how enjoyable of a movie it is. After liking Live Free or Die Hard, we decided to stroll back in the catalog to revisit McClane's earlier efforts. Although I am sad to say we did not watch the BluRay transfers, the new DVD still looked pretty good and the DTS sound track was quite lively. It is funny to go back and watch a movie from the nineties to really see how far we have come...or regressed depending on your point of view. Beepers, public smoking, public pay phones and the never ending dropping of the F-Bomb...where did that go in the movies? In Die Hard 2, it was everywhere. Hilarious. Perhaps it was just seeing Dennis Franz, who was channeling a yet to be cast Andy Sipowicz on NYPD Blue.
If you have not seen it in awhile, rent it or buy it. But whatever you do, do not watch it on television. Outside of the movie most likely being presented in pan and scan, you will also have to endure every bad dub over of potentially offensive dialogue. To me, that ruins a movie. Yippe Ki-Yay Mother Farmer....Puhleeze.
Beer for a Cold Night
I have always considered Sammy Smith's, Taddy Porter, one of my favorite Porters. Tonight's enjoyment was no exception. Especially with the bitter cold temperatures and my submission to pan fry this evenings steaks. Although they were good, it is just not the same as the grill and frankly, I was just too lazy to grill in signal digit temperatures.

Squirrel Bungee
I am not a big fan of squirrels. I typically get frustrated when they break into the bird feeders to pillage all of the bird food. So, in order to keep them occupied, I installed the Squirrel Bungee. It is this huge log of solidified food attached to a bungee spring. If they are going to eat, I want them to work for it and I want to be entertained. We will see what happens.

Here's our mission...
Here's our mission. A combat crew receives final instructions just before taking off in a mighty YB-17 bomber from a bombardment squadron base at the field, Langley Field, Va. (LOC), originally uploaded by The Library of Congress.
Today, I read on the Flickr Blog that Flickr was teaming up with the Library of Congress to help promote some of the millions of pictures in the LOB's catalog. Part of this exposure is to tag photos in hopes that the tags can be used to enrich the collection's indexing. I have already tagged some myself and encourage everyone else to do the same. I love photographs and it truly is amazing to get a glimpse of the past through some of these amazing images. Tag....your it!

And then there was...LIGHT!
And some smoke too...apparently! A bunch of tech sites covered the accidental appearance of the RockBand Stage Kit over at Gamestop.
The "kit" seems to contain stage lighting and a smoke machine. How cool is that? Although the Gamestop entry shows it is for Xbox, I am assuming it will be out for the PS3 too. Synchronized lights...wafting smoke...we already rocked. Now we will rock on our plastic instruments and look good while the neighbors thing the smoke and flashing lights mean our basement is on fire...

What's on the Grill #54
Ahhh, a Friday night and what better to have than one of my favorites? It might lack originality, but it is still good: Ribeye with a garlic and rosemary paste with crushed black and red peppercorns, steamed sprouts with bourbon smashed sweet potatoes.
